(September 27, 1988), Commerce, OK Unveiling of "MICKEY MANTLE, The Commerce Comet" - Our Childhood Hero - ******** ABOUT THE ART - Title: "Mickey Mantle - New York Yankees (1951-1968) Original Art Description: The original art is a 36" x 24" acrylic and pencil mixed media painting featuring "The Commerce Comet" during his illustrious 18 year New York Yankee professional career. In January of 1988, the art was commissioned by the late George Mayer, founder of MIAMI STONE of Miami, OK; and prepared by me in my Oswego, KS studio that spring. The art is currently owned by George`s son, Tony Mayer also of Miami, OK.
